Sim2 Domino D80 1080p - £6,995 inc !!!!!!!Our THIRD 1080p projector announcement in as many weeks! And this one's a doozy. Sim2 1080p is here - Grand Cinema HT3000Quite simply, the best single-chip DLP projector we have ever seen. Ever. ThemeScene may have the budget end of the market sown up, but Sim2 bring so much more refinement to the part. The HT3000 is based around TI's 1080p DC3 DLP chipset driven by Sim2's impecable Alpha Path light engine and delivered through the highest quality glass optics. In terms of software the HT3000 gets new Live Colours Management software, substantial improvements to the DCDi based video processing, uprated gamma adjustment and new Dynamic and Spatial noise reduction algorithms. The colour and grayscale performance of this projector, in fact the image as a whole, simply has to be seen to be believed. Single-chip DLP will not better this for some time. |

ThemeScene HD81 Available end SeptWould you believe it was not more than two years ago that Optoma ThemeScene shook up the projector market with the £4,000 720p H77 which became the basis for many of our mid-range installations. Now for 2006 they have raised the benchmark significantly again, with the 1080p resolution HD81, with Gennum VXP processing, all for the amazing price of just £4,999!! |
Sim2 Domino D35 and Grand Cinema HT305eSim2 have updated their 720p models in both Domino and Grand Cinema lines. The Domino D35 receives the new 150w lamp and upgraded driving electronics which combine to stretch even more contrast and brightess out of the 720p chip. The Grand Cinema HT305e gets even more of a working over; with same lamp and driving electronics upgrade as D35, upgraded glass optics, Sim2's brilliant Alpha Path light engine, and a complete overhaul of the processing electronics to offer better video processing, colour management, noise reduction and filtering. |

ThemeScene HD3000 Out nowIt seems everyone is getting in on the video processing act - not all being brilliantly successful implementations of the basic chipset they have used. The HD3000 gives fixed output resolutions for all ThemeScene projectors and adds improved colour management software, gamma adjustment, ISF features, and tearless frame rate conversion. |

Arcam DiVA DV137 Hits 1080p!Well if you thought the AVR350 announcement was news, think again. The biggest secret to come out of Arcam's doors was the announcement of a new DiVA range-topping DVD player - the DiVA DV137. And a minor tweak of the proven design is it not. While it make look like the DV78/DV79, the DV137 is a whole different kettle of fish entirely. First and foremost this is Arcam's first universal player - yes it finally does SACD as well as DVD-A, DVD-V, CD etc etc. Secondly, this is the first consumer device available to use Zoran Vaddis 888 decoding and processing, hence the ability for up to 1080p output!!! Being Arcam, and knowing what the user wants, all the functionality of the DV79 is still here. We can still run interlaced component HDMI to video processors, there's still speaker lever/distance adjustment for multi-channel use, it's still outstanding as a CD player. But on top of all this Arcam have designed a completely new Graphical Interface for the DV137, and even more ergonomic remote control. In a nutshell we are very excited about this player. |

Arcam DiVA AVR350 OUT NOW!Arcam couldn't help but stick their noses back into the DiVA range after the fmj AV8 became the phenomenal fmj AV9. They've taken the already hugely popular AVR300, sorted it out with some input staging from the AVP700, and mixed in a liberal splashing of Stealth Mat, Arcam's awesome internal sound deadening material first used in the fmj CD36. Some HDMI inputs/outputs have been added amongst a few other minor tweaks to the already successful design. The resulting DiVA AVR350 is clearly Arcam's best sounding integrated AV Amp ever |
Fujitsu P50XHA58EB.... WOW.Fujitsu promised us something significant with this new 58 series, and with the 40 series before it they had a LOT to beat. Well we opened up a 50" Fujitsu P50XHA58EB last week, and the first thing that hit us was the stunning black gloss bezel design. The second was the no-mess connection terminals: 2 HDMI, 2 component, handful of SD video inputs. This thing is built for Hi-Def with those two analogue and two digital HD inputs, so with that in mind we reached for the Snazio HD player.... ... and a week later and we're still throwing every bit of HD we can get at it!! Plasma has a new champion, and there'll be a 42" HD model (P42XHA58EB) soon enough. See our P50XHA58 page for more...

Arcam fmj AV9 Rocks our World! When Arcam announced a revision to the hugely successful AV8 we weren't so sure. On paper the only real difference was the addition of HDMI connections, a bit of work to the internal design, and one or two other bits and bobs. Nobody ever expected such seemingly minor "tweaks" to have such an impact on the quality of sound the processor produces! - Home Cinema Choice awards the AV9 Best Buy status and enthuses: "...Arcam's AV9 no-compromise hi-fi philosophy and supremely neutral sound is guaranteed to please...Thoroughly recommended." - Hi-Fi News talks of the AV9's breathtaking subjective transparency of its soundfield, "Arcam's AV9 has the hallmark of a truly great processor - one that can sustain a truly dramatic sense of occasion, whether through effects or musical score..." |
