Before I go on about just how excited I am about this new Arcam AVR600, just take a moment to have a look at the image on the right, and maybe download the pdf below and take a good look.... this amp is absolutely GORGEOUS! OK, now that's out of our systems, lets take a look at what's under the bonnet... The AVR600 is the first Arcam amp to have HDMI audio and video processing (5 inputs to 2 out, all HDMI 1.3!) which is the bit we have all been waiting for! The AVR600 includes for decoding of all SD and HD audio formats from Dolby and DTS camps (inc TrueHD and DTS Master Audio), with Anchor Bay video processing of SD and HD video signals up to 1080p. Dolby's new Dolby Volume processing automatically tweaks audio levels during those thunderously loud adverts for example, to ensure a consistent solid output level. In terms of power, we're looking at 120wpc x 7 into 4 or 8 ohms, or a cracking 150wpc x 2 into 4 or 8 ohms in stereo mode, all fed via a huge toroidal transormer. And the icing on the cake? It's got DAB too!

A rare beast this, an all-in-one DVD/CD/SACD/DVD-A/DAB/FM solution that actually sounds like a hi-fi seperates system! The Solo Movie comes in two flavours, 2.1 and 5.1 depending on how many amps you need and thus speakers you will have. The 5.1 is highly recommended since you can bi-amp your speakers or run zone 2 speakers if you did not want to setup a full 5.1 system. 1080i DVD playback and an integrated HDMI switch for your Sky HD for example. Very easy, very high quality system.
